WHAT IS BOTOX® COSMETIC?
Botox® Cosmetic is the leading FDA-approved injectable treatment to temporarily soften crow’s feet, frown lines, and forehead lines in men and women over the age of 18. The best candidates for Botox® Cosmetic treatments are those aged 18 years and older who are looking to smooth our stubborn dynamic lines and wrinkles on the upper face. Persons under the age of 18, as well as those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a history of severe allergies, or keloid scarring, or who are experiencing a skin issue in the area for treatment should not receive Botox®. Prior to your first injectable treatment, you will need to schedule a consultation with our medical injector in our Santa Monica to evaluate your area of concern, review your medical history to ensure that you are a good candidate, and clear you for treatment. Often, your treatment can be done on the same day as your consultation. During your Botox® treatment, our Physician Assistant and Master Injector will perform a skin cleansing and determine your injection sites. Next, the Botox® neurotoxin will be injected into the predetermined areas utilizing a small needle. Botox® treatments may feel like a small pinch during the injections into the skin, however, they are not considered painful. Your total treatment may take between 15 and 30 minutes depending on a number of factors including how many areas are being treated during your visit.
Following Botox® Cosmetic treatments, you could experience some temporary side effects such as mild redness, swelling, or bruising. There is no downtime required after your Botox® treatment, and you can easily return to work or attend social events on the same day. You will begin to see improvement in wrinkles, and fine lines within 24 to 48 hours, and you can expect to see full improvement within 30 days. Botox® and other Neurotoxin treatments typically last for 3-6 months before another treatment is required.
